How many students are admitted each year?
Approximately 25 students (total) are admitted. 15 to the M.S. and Ph.D. programs and an additional 10 students to the Certificate Program.

Do I have to have a clinical background to apply?
No! Our students come from a variety of disciplines including statistics, computer science, public health, et al. in addition to those from clinical fields such as medicine, nursing, etc.

How long does an M.S. degree take to complete?
Typically 2-3 years, depending on the enrollment status (i.e. full or part-time student). See our M.S. degree requirements for more info.

Do you offer online courses?
Yes, several of our courses are offered online, either as synchronous (live) transmissions that allow interaction by online students, or as asynchronous (recorded) courses. We will continue to increase the number of courses offered online.

What is the cost of tuition?

What do your graduates do after receiving their degrees?
Our graduates have gone on to very successful careers in Informatics. They are fairly evenly divided among industry, health care, government and academia. Many of our graduates have started new Informatics programs in sites around the U.S. and throughout the world. The exciting positions filled by our alumni range from directing information systems operations at a children's hospital to designing the next generation of electronic medical records, and from developing new techniques for discovering genetic causes of cancer to helping fight AIDS in Africa.
