"I am very excited to be selected by the NLM for a second term on the IHTSDO quality assurance committee," says Matney.

Matney currently is one of three U.S. representatives to the Quality Assurance Committee selected by NLM, in consultation with the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and the Chairs of the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics and HITSP.

After her reelection Matney said: "During my first term, the quality assurance committee developed a quality framework which is being implemented by SNOMED committees and working groups. It is fun to see the quality of the SNOMED content, tools and processes improving. I am looking forward to working with the committee for the next two years."

IHTSDO seeks to improve the health of humankind generally by owning, distributing, operating and developing suitable health terminology products, including SNOMED CT(r).

Matney joined the Office of the Associate Vice President for Health Sciences Information Technology last year to work on the next generation research infrastructure, titled the Federated Utah Research Translation Health e-Repository or FURTHeR. The FURTHeR project will provide the statewide informatics infrastructure supported by a Clinical and Translational Science Award through the Center for Clinical and Translational Science at The University of Utah.
