Dr. Huff, is currently a member of the Health IT Standards Committee (a Federal Advisory Committee) which is charged with making recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (HIT) on standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange and use of health information.

As Chief Medical Informatics Officer of Intermountain Healthcare, Dr. Huff lead the Intermountain Healthcare informatics team that recently launched a cutting edge data exchange project with Intermountain Healthcare and Partners HealthCare for genetic data exchange. According to Dr. Huff the project will open up new methods and protocols to help doctors effectively interpret genetic data in an electronic health record. Ultimately these new types of data exchange could lead to next generation medical records.
